About the Producer
Coffee is a tradition for the Madrid family, and Jose had dedicated his life to honouring the legacy left to him by his father and grandfather. After being gifted property by his father, he planted Pacas and Parainema varieties on his own farm, named El Plan.
He sold his coffee on the conventional market, experiencing the rollercoaster of prices, until deciding produce specialty coffee when his brother, Franklin. They entered and won the Cup of Excellence competition in 2008. With his brother Franklin's success came an appetite from green buyers for coffees from the rest of the family around the world. It's no exaggeration to say that the Cup of Excellence was a life-changing moment for the entire family.
