About the Producer
Mountain Harvest was founded by Kenneth Barigye in 2017. Their aim is to reshape the way the world sees and tastes Ugandan coffee through a commitment to long-term economic and environmental sustainability for the producers they work with.
Initially focusing exclusively on the Mt Elgon area, Mountain Harvest began exploring the potential to operate in Rwenzori in 2022. After an initial phase of exploration (finding farmers who were interested in working with MH, and determining the potential to build a team of Ugandan experts on the ground within the region), MH decided to invest in a larger station in Rwenzori, as a testament to the impact they think they can have with smallholders in the area.
This particular lot is named "Cosmic Natural", in honour of the 'Mountains of the Moon' (as the Rwenzori area is famously called). Cherries are bought from two communities in the surrounding area before being floated to check for ripeness, cleaned and then fully dried on raised beds.
