About the Producer
Another microregional lot from our friends at Azahar Coffee, from the Yacuanquer municipality in Southern Nariño.
Located on the Southwest corner of Colombia bordering Ecuador and the Pacific coast, Nariño is home to thousands of smallholder producers of Andean heritage who grow their coffee on the slopes of the many volcanoes in the region. Nariño is a particularly special region for Azahar, as it's where they first started buying coffee in 2010.
Yacuanquer is a small municipality on the foothills of the Galeras volcano in the south of Nariño. It's a new region in Colombia for us and we've found it to have a very distinct floral character. This lot is a blend of coffees from various producers in the municipality and is a perfect introduction to the area. We're sure to source single-producer micro lots from Nariño in the future.
