About the Producer
This is our first time buying from Don Gabriel Castaño Buendía, and we're very proud to have access to this coffee through our exporting partner Azahar. Azahar has worked closely with Don Gabriel for several years.
Don Gabriel is a true legend in Colombian coffee circles and is known colloquially as Southern Huila's Godfather of Pink Bourbon. He planted this varietal on his family farm, La Esmeralda, a variety which was not very well known at the time. He has since shared his knowledge and starters with countless peers, many of whom have gone on to sell their own Pink Bourbon lots internationally.
Despite deteriorating health due to his advancing age, Don Gabriel is proud of what he has achieved and says he wouldn't trade lives with anyone. His children have picked up the mantle and are all coffee producers in their own right.
