About the Producer

Rwanda Trading Company (RTC) was established in 2009 with the goal of fostering positive social change. The organisation focuses on providing economic freedom and security for smallholder farmers, by building resilient and transparent supply chains. RTC is responsible for processing and exporting 25% of Rwanda’s annual coffee production and more than 80% of their coffee is fully traceable to the farmer.

Horizon Maraba Washing Station and is nestled in the hills of Southern Rwanda, not far from the Burundian border. Owned by Fidel Ndagijima who also owns and runs Horizon Supreme, Fidel’s mission is to provide essential support to the local community. The station had been inactive for several years before his acquisition, and 2023 marked its first season back in operation. His primary focus has been on renovating the mill for improved handling and quality processing, as well as rebuilding trust within the farming community.

This year, he has established a nursery to distribute over 20,000 coffee seedlings and plans to introduce agronomy training for the farmers supplying the station. Thanks to the region's high altitude and its long-standing coffee tradition, Horizon Maraba Washing Station is renowned for producing some of the finest coffees in Rwanda.
