About the Producer
Rwanda Trading Company (RTC) was established in 2009 with the goal of fostering positive social change. The organisation focuses on providing economic freedom and security for smallholder farmers, by building resilient and transparent supply chains. RTC is responsible for processing and exporting 25% of Rwanda’s annual coffee production, and more than 80% of their coffee is fully traceable to the farmer.
In Kinyarwanda, *Agaciro* refers to dignity, value and even a modest price - a fitting name for this coffee. Agaciro is a distinctive offering from Rwanda Trading Company (RTC), designed to make the most of low-density beans that aren’t suitable for high-end washed coffees.
During the dry milling process, these beans are separated from the main batch of fully washed lots. Typically, they account for about 7-10% of unsorted parchment coffee. While Agaciro beans tend to have lower acidity and sweetness compared to their high-density counterparts, they still deliver a clean, enjoyable cup at a great value. As a by-product of the main washed lots, its availability is limited and depends on the volume of fully washed coffees being processed by RTC.
