About the Producer
Kenya AB is cooperatively produced by small lot-holders in the vast farmlands surrounding Mount Kenya, a now extinct 3-million-year-old volcano. Agriculture is paramount to these regions, with coffee being one of the largest exports alongside tea and flower fields.
This coffee is processed using a double fermentation washed method, whereby the cherries are pulped, rinsed and soaked in fermentation tanks twice. Once washed, the coffee is laid out on raised beds and turned regularly to allow for even drying. The drying process usually takes between 8-14 days.
Implementing double fermentation during the washing process creates a wonderful cup profile with floral notes. The high-quality coffee produces complex flavours with distinct clarity and a bright citrus acidity. The sweetness of berries and full body in this AB lot is a great representation of specialty-grade Kenyan coffee.
