About the Producer

Operating under rigorous standards such as Organic, RFA, and Café practices, ensures sustainable farming methods are upheld. Nestled within Limu's native forest reserve, the region's altitude ranging from 1,900 to 2,065 meters, fosters optimal conditions for coffee growth, contributing to its distinctive flavour profile.

Limu coffee shares flavour characteristics with renowned Ethiopian regions like Yirgacheffe and Sidamo, boasting floral notes and citric acidity, yet it stands out with its fuller body. This unique terroir enriched by abundant water sources and fertile soils from surrounding forests, adds depth to the coffee's flavour profile.

The meticulous process of selective handpicking of cherries on small farms, usually under one hectare, followed by processing at nearby washing stations, ensures the coffee's quality is preserved. This process, involving pulping, fermentation and careful drying over approximately 10 days, is integral to maintaining the coffee's exceptional taste.

Beyond its agricultural significance, Limu coffee holds deep cultural and economic importance in Ethiopia. Thriving between altitudes of 1,100 to 2,000 meters, its sweet and balanced flavour, particularly in its washed form, is revered as one of Ethiopia's finest highland-grown varieties. The name "Limu" embodies the region's signature flavour profile, known for its clean cup with subtle citric acidity, extending its renown beyond Djimma into the neighbouring Illuababor zone.
