About the Producer

Limu coffee originates from the lush forests of Western Ethiopia, where Arabica coffee was born. It shares flavour characteristics with other renowned Ethiopian regions like Yirgacheffe and Sidamo, boasting floral notes and citric acidity. Compared to these regions, Limu is distinguished by its fuller body.

Nestled within the Djimma zone, Limu benefits from abundant water and fertile soils enriched by natural composting from the surrounding forests. Most coffee farms here are small, under one hectare, employing selective handpicking of cherries which are then delivered to nearby washing stations. The meticulous processing involves pulping, fermentation, and washing, with parchment carefully dried on raised beds over a span of about 10 days.

Coffee holds immense cultural and economic significance in Ethiopia, deeply ingrained in its history and daily life. Inspired by this rich heritage, the company operates in the Jimma Zone, specifically Limu Kossa Woreda, known for its exceptional coffee-growing conditions. Limu coffee flourishes in the Southwest of Ethiopia, thriving between altitudes of 1,100 to 2,000 meters. Renowned for its sweet and balanced flavour, washed Limu coffee is celebrated as one of Ethiopia's finest highland-grown varieties, boasting medium-sized beans with a distinctive rounded shape and green colour.

The name "Limu" encapsulates the region's signature flavour profile, known for its clean cup with subtle citric acidity, extending beyond Jimma into the neighbouring Illuababor zone.
