About the Producer

This coffee comes from the Uraga woreda, specifically the Gogogu kebele, renowned for producing the best Guji beans. These farmers, cultivating small plots of land with great care, often combine coffee cultivation with enset (Ethiopian banana). In Gogogu, around 400 well-trained farmers deliver their cherries to the station, which employs about 70 workers and features 80 drying beds. The station meticulously sorts the coffee for two days before drying it for 12 to 15 days. The coffee is mixed every noon to ensure even drying, with the beds covered to prevent direct sunlight exposure.

Gogogu, in Ethiopia's Oromia region, is known for its exceptional quality coffee, produced by dedicated farmers who maintain traditional practices. The resulting coffee features stone fruit sweetness and subtle spice, typical of Ethiopian mixed heirloom varieties. The Guji Zone, where Gogogu is located, is a remote, heavily forested area preserved by the Guji tribe, who resist mining and logging to protect the land.
